The Polar Bear That Was Not Allowed To Be
/Profound sadness is a natural reaction by compassionate people when they hear of the death of a abused animal. But please take a hard long look at the people who let this happen, Arturo's death will not be in vain because of the attention he received, unfortunately Arturo is not an isolated case.
CHINA'S VERSION OF ARTURO?
Arturo the Polar Bear was born in 1985. He was purchased from the US and brought to Argentina in 1993 at age 8, he died Sunday July 3, 2016 after barely existing 22 of his thirty one years in, inhumane conditions at Argentina's Mendoza "Zoo". Despite over 500K signatures via Change.org, the Petition Site, lobbying by celebrities, then President of Chile, Christina Fernandez de Kirchner and Zoo president Gustavo Pronotto said no to a possible legal transfer of Arturo to a Canadian Zoo.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency denied Arturo's permit into Canada because of the lack of medical records from the Zoo. Even if Canada had accepted the bear via legal transfer the Argentine Government and Zoo officials would not have allowed it because if they let Arturo be transferred this would have been a admission to the world of their guilt, ineptitude and vanity. Arturo was the zoo's bread and butter.
