Poisoned, unwelcome and once mis-understood, the Greater Adjunct Stork is becoming a celebrated ally in India. A small but tenacious group of woman and school children have put the flying scavenger back on the map as they have come to realize the importance of the contribution these birds make to the environment. At approximately 1200 left world wide the Greater Adjunct Stork is helping to reinvigorate villages and remove organic waste acting for us - as natural garbage collector. With their numbers dwindling this important step toward preserving this vital species demonstrates relevance of all animal species to maintaining the balance of eco-systems. The Details, h/t AP Images.
